Berry Twigs

I can't believe I didn't post any quilt art all last year. Ikandu has a lot of catching up to do.

This small piece will be part of an exhibit by FiberArt NorthEast which will be held during the month of May at Mahopac Library. It's made with silk and the shiny pieces are metal.

Dragonfly

This quilt has been donated to SAQA, an art quilt association that I belong to. Along with over 200 other one foot square quilts, it will be auctioned off starting in September. This is a great way to buy a small work of art. See for yourself at

Rousseau-ish

I made this quilt for a challenge based on the work of artist Henri Rousseau. The challenge was cancelled but I finished the piece anyhow. I looked at several of Rousseau's paintings to make my own fabric "painting" in the style of Rousseau.

Ahh - finished!

Cars and trucks and trains, oh my. Mom is riding in a sports car, Jay and brother Cole are in the school bus, grandparents are in the cabose and Dad gets to drive the dump truck.

Not Your Baker's Yeast

Felice Frankel's macro photogra-
phy of yeast colonies magnified many times inspired this quilt. The filamented circles, although pretty, are invasive colonies and can cause disease.

Not Your Baker's Yeast - detail

This quilt is made with cotton, silks, velvets, cheese-
cloth, and decorative wools, ribbons and threads. Machine pieced and appliqued, machine and hand quilted

New Metals

These four little quilts are mounted on 8 x 10 painted canvases. They are for sale at The Commons Gallery in Eastport, Maine. Painting the canvas was quite a challenge - I must have painted 10 different layers before I got an acceptable look.

Metal I

All four quilts use paper, fabric, wool or ribbon edging and some kind of metal. This quilt uses copper mesh, beads and hand stitching with linen thread.

Tipping Point

In December, '07, I decided to challenge myself to create a 4" art piece using the words from IllustrationFriday website. I would do one a week for a year and use paper in each piece. In September, '08, I was at a Tipping Point - about 4 months behind. I managed to catch up and completed 50 little works by December 31, 2008. The last two are awaiting photos which seem to be lost in my house.

Collaboration V

The photogra- pher is my husband and the photo is printed on fabric. The quilt is 37" square. Cotton, beading and hand quilting.

Tori Gates

It took me ten years to figure out how I wanted to depict a very special moment in Japan. Red silk kimono fabric, moon and mountain by FL-Air, velvets, cottons, beading, hand applique, hand and machine quilting.

Luna IV

Luna IV was created for the One Foot Square Auction for SAQA. Paper, upholstery fabric, cotton, ribbon, hand and machine stitching.

Diamonds and Silk

The white fabric is a silk kimona purchased in Japan in 1994. My challenge was to create a design which could accommo-
date the very light silk with the very heavy brocade. I was told "It couldn't be done!"
